Procedures

This section lists procedures that need to be followed to ensure that projects run smoothly, from start to finish. Any project that involves the campus network, either because of the demolition or removal of existing control equipment, or the addition of new control equipment, runs the risk of causing serious disruptions to our ability to monitor critical campus systems. Therefore, the main procedural requirement is this:

Inform EMCS Operations (255-5777) before any potential connection to, or interruption of, the data communication network!

The following procedures describe the steps to be taken by our Contractors under the supervision of the PM:

  • BACS Procedures - From Installation to Removal This document specifies “Procedures for the Installation, Modification, Retrofit, and Removal of Building Automation and Control Systems and Software”. It contains step-by-step procedures to guide PMs in every phase of a controls project.

  • BACS Procedures - BACnet/IP Checkout The document specifies the details for the “Checkout of BACnet/IP Installations.” These procedures must be followed for all projects, whether the contractor is internal or external and is intended to provide guidance to PMs to help avoid disruptions to the Campus network infrastructure.

  • Procedures for New Automated Logic Corporation (ALC) Devices You will note that this document refers to “LCS,” Logical Control Solutions. LCS is currently the contractor that provides and installs the majority of our ALC equipment but this checklist needs to be completed by anyone installing ALC equipment.

  • Procedures for New Honeywell/Alerton Devices You will note that this document refers to “PASCO.” PASCO is currently the contractor that provides and installs the majority of our Honeywell/Alerton equipment but this checklist needs to be completed by anyone installing Honeywell/Alerton equipment.
